Chicken plant hinders development

The State | 10/03/2005 | Chicken plant hinders development

I love The State it is such a good newspaper - Chickens are some of my favorite subjects as they make for good liberal appeal. The State like an underchicken nearly as much as failing school systems and inept higher education institutions. I left the headline alone because it was stupid.

“The company pays about $15 million in payroll, much of it spent by employees at Triangle City area businesses, about two miles away. It also pays $350,000 in county property taxes. Columbia Farms, which has another, smaller collection facility in Batesburg-Leesville, posts annual sales of $125 million to $150 million from its Midlands operations. “
